Rep Selection Policy

All teams representing Taren Point Touch (TPTA) / Sharks Touch Football (STF) shall be selected
according to this policy with the aim of ensuring that team selections are fair, objective, and ensure all
aspiring players are given a reasonable opportunity to demonstrate their skills and abilities.

The trials and selection process shall be finalised by 31 October 2022 with teams announced on
Friday 4 November, 2022.

Team selections shall occur under the guidance of the Head Selector and two or more independent
selectors nominated to that team.

In the instance that a Head Coach is independent and does not have any family members involved in
their respective team, then TPTA will allow them to select the side with the assistance of one
independent selector. If an Assistant Coach has family members involved in the team they are to take
no part in selections of the team.

In the instance that a Head Coach has a family member(s) trialling in their respective team, then the
TPTA Head Selector will appoint two independent selectors to select the side and the Head Coach will
take no part in selections of the team.

In the instance that a Head Coach has a family member trialling in their respective team and they are
not selected as part of that team, the Head Coach will be given the option to forfeit their position as
Head Coach.

In the instance where the number of players ‘trying out’ is less than the player numbers required, a
panel may not be required.

The final decision on selections shall be made by the Head Selector, appointed Independent
Selector(s) and in consultation with the Head Coach and Assistant Coach. Final selections will then
be ratified by the TPTA Executive Committee.

Any disputes in relation to the selection process shall be overseen by the TPTA Head Selector.
